Vincent Cable: Chancellor-in-waiting in a Coalition Government

vincecable240x160 Vincent Cable: Chancellor in waiting in a Coalition GovernmentYet again, our outdated system of party politics leaves us, as citizens, frustrated and angry.
Why? Because it prevents so many good people from leading us at times when sensible and capable leaders are nowhere to be seen within the Government we have in power.
At a time when our economy and finances are at rock bottom, when we need someone who knows what they’re talking about and in whom we have a considerable degree of trust, we are forced to rely on fools and incompetents like Alistair Darling, with the disgustingly inadequate and repugnant George Osborne lining himself up on the Tory front bench as our ‘first choice’ alternative Chancellor.
A worse pair of hapless idiots you couldn’t saddle yourself with if you tried. Even the lovable Ken Clarke is past his sell-by date and would be a less-than-safe pair of hands were he to be given the task of managing our sorry balance sheet.
And yet the man we all want, the sure-footed Vincent Cable (let’s not worry about the party he associates himself with for the moment) is left sitting calmly in the wings, showing a clear understanding of the causes, implications and solutions to our woes, but without the means to do anything about it.
At this time of national emergency – and surely people realise that now – why can’t we get politicians to work together and play to each other’s strengths in the national interest?
The British Citizen
calls for a national Coalition Government now, led by our very best people across the political spectrum and chosen by an immediate and urgent referendum.
We need people who are competent, and we need people we can trust.
Most importantly, we need them now.
